Aldus Vanya makes folk and country music for the living room revolution.

Inspired by the folk traditions of American union movements and Irish rebel songs, they craft a sound that’s timeless, yet hauntingly reflective of current affairs.

A band that redefines what both folk and and punk can sound like, Aldus Vanya now present their debut show and soon to be released album; Red Dog Machine.

This show is also the end exam of frontman Ivan “Vanya” Dekker, graduating from the study Musician 3.0 at the Utrecht Conservatory.

Immen is the musical moniker of Utrecht-based musician Clasine Haringsma. Staying true to her Frisian roots, she sings in both English and Frisian—gravitating towards the latter. Even though her songs often deal with uncertainties and overwhelming feelings, Haringsma’s warm, ethereal voice imbues the songs with a feeling of comfort. Her songs are delicately crafted, pure little realms evoking nature’s seasonal shifts—passing through rain and into the sun. For fans of Laura Marling, Adrianne Lenker and Jeff Buckley.

o cap off their three-day Fantasy & Dungeon Synth takeover of Utrecht, the organizers of Echoes from the Dungeon Fest II present a special double-feature movie screening at Moira.

The program opens with ‘The Darkness Before Your Eyes’, a short musical dungeon synth and fantasy film by Erang. Deeply personal and steeped in nostalgia, the film offers an intimate glimpse into the background and inspirations of one of the pioneering figures of the genre’s modern revival, weaving together home videos, original animations, film clips, literary excerpts, and, of course, an epic, immersive soundtrack.

This is followed by the 1922 silent horror masterpiece ‘Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages’, presented with an original score by Cold Sanctum. Based in Portland, Oregon, Cold Sanctum has previously composed scores for several silent horror and sci-fi classics, including ‘Metropolis’, ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, and ‘Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror’. For Häxan, he delivers an ominous, suspense-laden dungeon synth score that perfectly complements the film’s occult themes and haunting visuals.

On Saturday, February 28th, Moira will host a highly energy-charged electronic event, featuring some of the most dynamic and musically entertaining DJs in the local scene.

 

 

Bablo;

After spending countless days in dark Utreg basements serving but the finest slices of house, disco and some oddball schlager classics, Bablo decided it was time for a much-needed change of pace. Searching for a new passion to pour his heart and soul in, he tried many odd jobs: potato farming, personal stylist to Dick Schoof, snake milking, beard transplantations, and finally settling on making a career out of cat whispering. After many years of success with treating bored housecats and ADHD kittens, he ran into a tomcat that had spent his formative years in Kater Blau, and convinced him to return to his primordial love: house music all night long. So this night, returning to his beloved Moira Zaal, Bablo will once again play only the juiciest, grooviest and hard-hitting records from his extensive collection to make you move and groove.

Elocutionist Simon Mulder and renowned actor Marcel Faber will bring prose, poetry and drama by Oscar Wilde and his contemporaries, and take you on a journey through his rise and fall. Daan van de Velde (piano) and Anna Majchrzak (soprano with André Rieu's Johann Strauß Orchestra) will perform English art songs. HetMoet publishers presents 'Twee liefdes/Two Loves', a bilingual anthology of the letters and poems by Wilde and Douglas. Also, we offer the very special performance of a long-lost work for piano and voice on Wilde's "Ballad of Reading Gaol", which he wrote after his two years in prison. Our Poetry Bar offers one of Oscar's favourite drinks: absinthe, accompanied by English sonnets.

Marie and Tyler graduated in 2024 from the Utrecht Conservatory, where they first met. Moira offers a space for creatives to live, work and organise. The exhibition space on the ground level hosts several activist collectives that organise workshops, events and exhibitions. Our venue is located in the basement of the building, and we host all kinds of events down there. From quiet yoga sessions to banging bands, and from poetry nights to punk performances, you can find it in our basement! There is a weekly open mic night and regular events in the venue.
